Son of Isaac Ferree 1786 - 1822 and Hannah Wall. Born 1818, died 1896. Married Mary Daughty. About 1831 he was gunsmith apprentiece for four years at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Joel Thornton and his brother George Spencer worked as gunsmiths in Findley Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania about 1838 to 1840. George Spencer fought in the Mexican War (1846-1848) and was also a steamship captain between Pittsburg and New Orleans. For about twenty-five years he had a gunshop near Lanconia, Indiana where he died in 1896. |
